Overview
Breakaway Athletics LLC(“Breakaway Athletics,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates this website and runs basketball training, clinics, and camps in Cleveland, OH. Through this site you can register and pay for our events. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our website, registering, or contacting us, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to respond to you, run our events, and deliver what you sign up for:
- Information you give us.When you register on this site, message us on Instagram, or email us, you may share your name, the athlete's first name and last initial, graduation year, position, and grade or age, an Instagram handle, an email address or phone number, and the contents of your messages.
- Registration and consent records.After you pay for a camp, we ask the parent or legal guardian to complete a short intake. There we collect the player's name, graduation year, and position; the guardian's name, phone, and email; an emergency contact name and phone; and any optional allergy or medical notes you choose to share. We also record your agreement to our liability waiver and media release — including the typed guardian name, the date and time, and the IP address used to sign — so we have a record of the consent you gave.
- Payment information.When you pay for an event, checkout is handled by our third-party payment processor, Stripe, which collects your payment card and billing details directly. We do not see or store full card numbers — we receive only a confirmation and limited details such as your name, email, and the brand and last four digits of your card.
- Camp media and evaluations.At an event we may capture photos and video of the athlete and record measurables and a coach's written evaluation, which we use to create the athlete's Player Page and other deliverables (see “Photos, Video & Player Pages” below).
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider may log basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view. If we add analytics in the future, it will be used only to understand site usage in aggregate.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your questions and messages;
- Process and confirm registrations, take payment, and hold your spot;
- Create and host the athlete's Player Page and deliver their photos, film, and written evaluation;
- Send you details, updates, or reminders — by email, phone, or text message — about an event you've registered for or asked about;
- Operate, maintain, and improve our website; and
- Comply with the law and protect our rights.
How We Share Information
We do notsell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate — such as Stripe (payment processing), Instagram/Meta (where some of our messaging takes place), and our email and website hosting providers — and only as needed to provide our services. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and rights of our participants, staff, or others.
Photos, Video & Player Pages
A core part of our camps is creating each athlete's “Player Page” — a shareable profile that may include the athlete's first name and last initial, graduation year, position, measurables, skill ratings, a coach's written evaluation, badges, photos, and video highlights. A Player Page can be viewed by anyone who has its link and is meant to be shared by the family. By signing our media release during registration, the parent or legal guardian consents to our capturing this media and creating the Player Page and related deliverables, and to our limited use of event photos and video to promote our programs.
You control who can see it. By default a Player Page is unlisted— reachable only through the private link we give the family, kept out of search engines, and left off our public roster. During registration the guardian may instead choose to make the page public, which lists it on our site and allows it to be indexed by search engines. You can change this choice, make a page private again, take it down, or have a specific photo or video removed at any time by contacting us, and we will honor your request.
We never publish an athlete's full last name, a parent or guardian's contact information, an emergency contact, or any medical or allergy notes. That information is kept private and used only to run the camp safely and to reach you.
Free Player Card Tool
Our site offers a free, just-for-fun “Player Card” maker. You type in a few details — the player's name, position, graduation year, jersey number and colors, and self-chosen ratings — and we generate a shareable card. We do not store any of this. The card is built entirely from the details encoded in its own link: that link isthe card. Anyone you send the link to can see the card, so share it only with people you choose. We keep these card pages out of search engines, and because nothing is saved on our servers, there is nothing for us to retain or delete — simply stop sharing the link.
Instagram, Stripe & Other Third-Party Services
Some of our communication happens through Instagram, and checkout is handled by Stripe. Information you share on those services is also governed by their own privacy policies (Meta's and Stripe's), which we do not control. Our website may also link to third-party sites; we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
Cookies & Analytics
Our website does not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics, and we do not set cookies to follow you across other sites. Our hosting provider may use strictly necessary cookies or logs to serve the site securely. If we add analytics in the future, we'll update this policy and use it only to measure site performance and usage in aggregate. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings.
Children & Minors
Our program serves high school athletes, many of whom are under 18. We ask that a parent or legal guardian handle registration, payment, and communication on behalf of any athlete under 18, and registering an athlete confirms the parent or guardian's consent to the media and Player Page described above. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy — for example, to administer an event, host a Player Page, and respond to inquiries — and as required to meet our legal and tax obligations, after which we delete or anonymize it.
Your Choices & Rights
You may request to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, ask us to take down or make private a Player Page, and ask us to stop contacting you at any time. To make a request, email us at the address below and we'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information you share with us, and payment details are handled by Stripe under its own security standards. However, no website or method of transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of our website after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
